Beau Brannon

"I started the course without ever having rigged or animated a character, but I feel I came away from it with an excellent foundation for the process. We created our own character as we learned, which made me more invested in it, like a real-world project instead of a paint-by-number tutorial."

Brice Coustillet

“I struggled a lot in the past as I didn't know where to begin when I was confronted with a character. The course gave me a precise and fast workflow to be able to start animating on a solid foundation. I feel way more secure to animate stuff that I had given up on before.”

Gabriel Martinez

"I have been working in motion graphics for several years, and I've always felt like I was missing that special touch that makes a character appealing. Character Animation Launchpad, has taught me how to bring my characters to life in very intuitive way."

Frequently asked questions

You've got questions. We've got answers.

Do I need prior experience in animation?

Well...kind of. This course is designed for beginners, however you'll need a basic understanding of how the animation system works in After Effects.

IE, How to set keyframes and how to access the graph editor.

What software do I need for this course?

You will need Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator for this course. We recommend getting the latest version to ensure compatibility with the course materials.

You'll also need the latest version of Limber 2 from Animatable.co

Additionally I utilize Overlord to quickly and easily transfer artwork between AE and Illustrator, but it is not required for this course. For the purposes of this course, Overlord 1 or 2 will work, but Overlord 1 is used in the lessons.

How long does the course take to complete?

The course is self-paced, so it depends on how much time you can dedicate. You could get through all the lessons in a little under 1 workday. However, those who want to follow along and apply themselves usually can complete the course in a matter of 1-2 weeks.

What is the course format?

The course is an on-demand format. This means you can log in at any time and start or pick up where you left off. You'll have life-time access to course content to come back to whenever you need.

Does this course cover the new version of Limber?

Yes. The changes to the rigging workflow in Limber 2 have changed substantially. Therefore it was necessary to revamp the design and rigging sections of the course. While the older lessons remain in case you haven't upgraded, the design and rigging sections of this course have been updated to cover Limber 2, with plans to update the animation sections using Limber 2 as well in the near future.
